Originally known as "J31" Bodacious the Bull (1988? - May 16, 2000)
was so infamous that he known alternately as "The World's Most Dangerous
Bull" and the "White Whale" because of his unusual coloring. At
1,800 pounds, Bodacious Bull moved unpredictably and in ways rodeo cowboys were
not used to. 135 rodeo athletes attempted to ride Bodacious Bull, but only six
were successful. As the buckle says, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) named
Bodacious Bull of the Year in 1995.
Bodacious Bull gained national attention in 1994 at the Houston Livestock Show
and Rodeo. "Bo" really got "in your face" when, in 1995, Tuff
Hedeman (one of the few to stay on Bodacious a full eight seconds) suffered a
major face smashing from Bodacious Bull, and required emergency reconstructive
surgery after a subsequent attempt to ride Bodacious at the PBR Finals. At the
National Finals Rodeo in 1995, Hedeman drew Bodacious Bull again and chose not
to ride him, calling Bodacious "the baddest bull there has ever been."
It was at this same event that Scott Breding received serious injuries and received
the dubious title of being the last cowboy to attempt a ride on Bodacious.
Still in his prime, Bodacious The Bull retired on December 11, 1995, at the age
of 7.
