the Big Mountain Pro competition at the Saalbach-Hinterglemm Funpark
in Austria last month prompted us here at BuckleBuilder.com to

101 - Saddle Bronc
Saddle Broc Riding stemmed from cowboys on ranches breaking wild
horses for the purpose of working cattle. Today's event saddles
are light with no horn, like a normal western saddle. The hack rein
is very thick and is attached to the horse's halter. In order to
keep his seat in the saddle, the rider lifts the hack rein while
his spurs arc from the front of the horse to the saddle skirt. Unlike
bull riding and bareback bronc riding, in this event cowboys rely
on timing, style, and skill as opposed to brute strength. A score
in the high 80's is considered a good ride. Both the bareback and
the saddle bronc riders dismount with the assistance of a pickup
man. |
